♪ WHAT STYLES OF MUSIC DO YOU TEACH?
All styles from classical to modern. Whether you want to learn Bach or Alicia Keys, I will help you become the pianist you want to be.
♪ WHAT ABOUT THE BASICS? WILL I LEARN THOSE?
Like any sport, their are basic drills and skills you will want to attain in order to play the music you love and have fun doing it. I will help you develop your tool box of basic skills according to your goals. Your tool box may include: reading, writing, technique, theory, transposition, improvisation and playing by ear.
♪ HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO LEARN THE PIANO?
Most students will play some simple songs within the first few weeks of lessons. However, there is so much repertoire and skills to learn that you may well end up finding this becomes a life long pursuit. If you want to become an expert, definitely plan on putting in 10,000 hours!
♪ DO I NEED A PIANO?
You do not have to have a piano at home to take lessons. A simple full size electronic keyboard with touch sensitive will suffice for the first year. When you are ready to get a piano, I can guide you and give you a checklist of things to look for.
♪ DO I HAVE TO PERFORM at RECITALS?
You will never be required to perform however, there are many benefits to sharing your music with other piano students, family and friends. Your practice is more focused when you have a short term performing goal, you develop rich friendships with other students who are learning just like you, you acquire complimentary skills such as comfort in front of an audience. Though not required, you will have the opportunity to play in fun, relaxed recitals and group classes.
♪ AT WHAT AGE CAN I START PIANO LESSONS?
You can start piano lessons between 4 years and 104 years.
♪ WHEN ARE LESSONS AVAILABLE?

Lessons are available at my studio in Pahiatua, or at Tararua College
